Volunteers
are an indispensable part of life throughout Lutheran Services for the Aging. Compassionate people with loving spirits and generous hearts, volunteers donate thousands of hours in time and talent to LSA annually.

At the retirement communities, volunteers lead educational, cultural, and musical programming, or donate expertise in gardening, technology, exercise and wellness.

Volunteers enrich LSA nursing homes by demonstrating arts and crafts, decorating, hosting parties and special events, and leading discussions, devotions or educational programs. Volunteers provide frail residents with individualized attention by visiting at bedside, helping with reading, writing or simple tasks when needed.

Adult day service volunteers share special talents, assist with field trips, and lead exercises, devotions, crafts and games. Volunteers also assist with meals and snacks or simply provide companionship and a bit of extra attention. The LSA communities are active, busy places where multiple generations meet in a spirit of fellowship and cooperation, and offer schools, clubs, and groups opportunities for intergenerational projects.
